In the defense of the "press" who sometimes slink in the shadows as they report the news that in most cases, reflects their own opinion rather than reporting the facts, its hard to fault them, as we in the "West" seem to thirst after the news pertaining to the subjects of wars and atrocities perceived as being caused by the leaders of the free world.
Yet, as in this case, when these same people commit acts against each other, they seem not to be the concern of "civilized" people so what is new in this? When the European was "opening" up the West and marching pell-mell across the plains and mountains of the USA with the press in tow.. they reported the details of the battles fought against the Indians and how they were sneaky in their battles against the pony soldiers, and yet if one group of Indians choose to do battle against each other nary a word hit the press back East what for, they were doing a magnificent job in ridding themselves of our problem.
At the end of the day, it will only be the "have's" doing battle against the "have-nots" that will make the press, but when the have-nots do battle against the have-nots, where is the news, as for the press blaming the have's for all the ills of the have-nots, why not, it sells news papers and garners video coverage and guess what, we buy the newspapers and watch the boob tube in hopes that some government will commit another atrocity against the poor of the world.
If we (the public) didn't suffer periods of extreme glee when we read about or watched these events reported in this manner, the press would change their tactics and report the news, as they expect the governments to act, in an unbiased manner how many people rush to a fire consuming a stately building in the well-to-do part of town, versus a two-bedroom bungalow in a shanty town not many. We enjoy beyond compare faulting those who may have a bit more than us we enjoy beyond compare the condemnation of a person in high office who takes a tumble from his ladder once in a while --- its human nature.
