Much of this is old news. Some of it is merely alleged or irresponsibly blown out of proportion. Nothing in your article convinces me of anything except what I already believe to be true: that Yusuf is simply morally very conservative. Even though I'm not Muslim, I completely understand what he means, with regard to both the [paraphrased] "wisely not vilifying religious beliefs" and the "woman's beauty and form remaining within the family". I admire that. And I'm a free-thinking, independent-minded Western woman. Muslim men have to follow guidelines as well. I think he means well; there aren't enough people in the world like him. Sometimes I think he's too bluntly honest, and that this is his downfall. Your comment about proper Islamic punishments not applying in Britain YET is word-twisting at its finest. Furthermore, this article appears to have been written in direct response and opposition to news of a wonderful honor (yet AGAIN) for Yusuf. Why does this always seem to be the case? Is it just human nature to try to find the bad everywhere we look, instead of the good? Does it make for more interesting reading?
