Taking 4,200 beds out of NY State's inventory of hospital beds is poor judgement. When emergency rooms hold people in the ER until beds open up, and ill relatives cannot transfer to a hospital equipped to handle there case because the admitting hospital does not have the expertise, good public policy states to NO closures. That being said, it does not mean that hospitals cannot be made more efficient medically as well as fiscally.
