In actuality, the term "Republican" does not exist in the political vocabulary, in Massachusetts. Romney was an abject failure as Governor and how he figures he'll be thought of as anything but a failure is a mystery to me. His chances for a candidacy for the President will be laughed out of town, especially here in Massachusetts. However, knowing the track record of the nationwide Republican party, Romney could be a strong consideration for Vice President. What a disaster that would be, especially if John McCain gets the nomination for President, over Newt Gingrich or Duncan Hunter. This state will always be Democrat and no political party other than Democrat will ever control the state political system. Sure, there have been Republican Governors but, there have always been Democrat legislatures. The Democrats will always want to have a Republican Governor because, that's who they'll blame when the system falls flat on its face and taxes have to be raised and other such penalizing measures have to be taken against the electorate. The Democrat party does not like the citizens of this state, especially those who cannot line their pockets with money and favors. The entities that run this state are lawyers, insurance companies, medical and pharmaceutical companies and other vested interests who can make life comfortable for the Democrat (which is almost all of them) members of the state legislature. Now there is a new player in the game and that is the biotech industry. Through the employment of retired and former politicians who served in the state legislature, these people have a lobbying power second to none, in this state. Progress was never, is not now and never will be, a concept to be adopted by the state legislature. Their methods of progress are, raise taxes and keep the people in servitude to the government. As Jimmy Durante used to say: "what a revoltin' development this is". Romney for dog catcher, as long as there is no one else running against him.
