Why Are New Yorkers Hungry?

Submitted by Joan Callahan, Nov 28, 2006 10:03

It's about time someone had the guts to say this. There is absolutely no excuse for anyone not only in this city but in this country to be hungry, with exceptions for the infirm , housebound and mentally incapable. With all of the social programs, school lunches and breakfasts, food stamps, welfare, soup kitchens, church sponsored groups, no one is going hungry because of lack of food. Alicia Colon is a voice of reason , and as someone who has been there, certainly knows what she is talking about. It is time to syndicate her column so her wisdom as available to the rest of the country.
