Missed Opportunity for Yankees, Mets

Just want to commend the writer as this is the first time I have read a sports column wherein physics was used in passing (and not as a topic as, for example, curveballs). "[A] player at rest stays at rest" alludes to Newton's First Law as well as stationary equilibrium. In spite of being preeminent in science, awareness of mathematics and science in the general American population is abysmally low. More use of scientific/mathematical allusion in the popular press can help to raise the everyday consciousness with hopefully interest-piquing effect (acknowledging, however, this as a quaint hope).
