Religion has nothing to do with civil marriage, which is what the bill addresses How anyone thinks that two people being in a committed relationship is a threat to their life, religion or happiness is beyond me.
This bill addresses the inequities of current law, which deny unrecognized partners the rights to visit their partner in the hospital, the right to inherit their partner's property , the rights to health care coverage and the rights to various tax benefits among others.
Religion is a guide to help people live their lives, to deal with life's ups and downs and to explain the sometimes unexplainable occurrences in the world; yet, no one has the right to impose one's religion on others.
