Death is as hard to read about as it is to write about. Especially if that death was a result of improper conduct by those we trust to protect us. I appreciate that members of the fourth estate are not shying away from reporting on this incident and making sure those responsible are held accountable.
After reading several of your competitors' renditions of this tale, it is clear that Mr. Berman will one day become an excellent reporter. While maintaining a judicious use of the colon (which many writers overuse these days), Mr. Berman effectively captured the voice and nuance of his subjects. As someone who does not regularly keep tabs on the "inside baseball" of NY city hall, I was able to easily and quickly appreciate who stood where on the matter.
I look forward to follow-up and investigative pieces by Mr. Berman and his colleagues in the press.
But I also appreciate the Sun's reluctance to shirk from covering the lighter side of news. I hope to see more articles about harnessing the reusable energy of dog poop, and the dedication and groundbreaking of the new Mets stadium.
Thank you, sir.
