A law against gas price gouging seems harmless if it can be properly enforced; however, I doubt that it can be sufficiently proven that it is taking place. Currently, pundits and industry analysts disagree about the cause of recent higher prices. Is it market driven due to supply and demand and other factors such as the lack of refineries? Do oil company record profits indicate price manipulation by these same companies? Once again, congress is wasting time and more taxpayer dollars without any real lowering of gas prices!
