I know that this was passed by the Senate at the Federal level but the repeal of the gas tax could extend to the state level as well.

Connecticut, my home state, has one of the country's highest gasoline taxes levied at the retail level. The local weak, if non existent Republican minority put forth an idea of rescinding the tax during the summer traveling season to the majority leadership. They chose not to consider it. The Democrats whine incessantly about how they are the party of the working class but given the chance to do something for the working class, well let's just say their hypocritical colors shone through perfectly clear. They are for the state, the state only and certainly not for the voting electorate, the citizens or the working class. And this comes at a time when the state coffers are showing a sizeable surplus.

The rescission of the gas tax was only a temporary measure, the tax was to be reinstituted after the summer travel season. Temporary relief for the citizens seems to be too much to ask of the Democrats. The citizens are not allowed to benefit as the Democrats greedily feed from their trough. And they accuse the Republicans of sponsoring greed?
