I enjoyed this well written review. I agree with Mr Wallace -Wells in that too often i find myself reading an historical novel which I was drawn to because of the "richly conceived" subject matter, then find myself in a story that is melodramatic and .. as he says" just fanciful platting", Good insight Mr Wallace-Wells!
