When Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet, it was already an old and famous strory that had written and performaned many times for hundreds of years. The apeal of the story was that they die. The very begining of the play calls them "star-crossed lovers", meaning they are doomed, which gives away the ending.

Just a note. I learned this in High School and found it interesting. I also hope that Harry does not die. That would suck.
