Déjà Vu: Apologists Unfurl Stale Arguments

Submitted by Michael F. Scheuer, Jul 2, 2007 13:03

One would think that a paper like the SUN would refrain from printing such fatal foolishness as that written by Mr. Ibrahim. Sadly, Mr. Ibrahim and the many others like him -- the Islamists' unwitting 5th column -- are leading America toward disaster by telling their fellow citizens that the Islamists hate us for how we think, live, and behave in our domestic society. If only that were so! If Mr. Ibrahim and his ilk were correct, the Islamists would be a lethal nuisance. Instead, they are a national security threat because they are motivated by the impact of U.S., UK, and other Western foreign policy in the Muslim world, an impact which polls show 70-plus percent of all Muslims deem as an attempt to undermine their faith. This is not to denigrate Western policy -- although it clearly undermines domestic security in the West -- but only to say to Americans that their Islamist enemy is motivated by what our government does, is far larger than Mr. Ibrahim and his crowd portray, and that our leaders in both parties have vastly underestimated the threat that the Islamists pose to U.S. security.
