Senator Clinton Stands by Charter Schools

The GI Bill of Rights for World War II Veterans provided vouchers for education and textbooks plus $75 a month to live on which I used to obtain Bachelors degree in Economics plus 24 points in Accounting at Columbia. If I had been admitted to a religiously affiliated School such as Fordham, I would have been eligible for the same government assistance. Or if I had not graduated College before going into the military, I would have received the similar assistance. That is somewaht similar to the way it should be for everyone today at Public Institutions with the student or his family being permitted to take a voucher for same amount as the cost of tution and textbooks at a public education institution such as City University and pay the difference at a private institutions, whether affiliated with a religion such as Fordham or being basically secular such as Columbia.

Charter Schools are a diversion, and many are profit making which adds a new dimension to public education. It is is unfair for the government to provide parents with what is in effect a voucher of $8500 to attend a Charter School and not permit parents to apply the same amount towards a education at a religous school .
