Senator Biden Urges America To Take Tougher Stance With ‘Corrupt' Mexico

I'm glad Joe Biden has the fortitude to take a non-PC stand on dealing with Mexico, I don't think a neglected border has really helped either country, if anything it's probably built up a mutual blind spot that's been a liability for both.

Preventing illegal border traffic will stop a lot of crime, I think, and help Mexico on its' path to reform, and there may be opponents to doing this, but in the long run, it will make life better for all involved. I think it needs to go one step farther, and talk about doing trade with Mexico in general...did you read about what they found at Home Depot? Furniture made in Mexico, packaged with marijuana inside. A border fence can't stop that...there are many aspects and contributing factors to the problems that have arisen between the US and Mexico, illegal immigration is only one component of the entire thing, another factor is global population growth, domestic population growth, everyone's on this growth kick, and they're not making any new land. This isn't 1820 anymore, it's 2006, I hope that Biden can do everybody a great service on this issue and keep putting all known/relevant facts on the table.

I support the border fence and a review of the Treaty of Guadalupe while they're at it, make sure that both countries are really abiding by the terms...good fences DO make good neighbors, and enforcing immigration laws is the right choice on this, in my view.
