I would be far more amenable to the arguments for giving clemency now and pardon later to "Scooter", pal of the rich and powerful, if GWB had given the same clemency to the two Border Patrol agents who were railroaded into 11-year prison sentences for shooting a drug smuggler in the butt [some injury, but not enough to prevent his engaging in further drug smuggling while waiting for the agent's trial]. As the mother of a recovering drug addict, I feel more sympathy for the agents than for an elite with a smarmy nick-name like "Scooter".
