I got a cell phone solely for the purpose of being able to call should I be stuck in traffic and late. I have a prepaid plan and until recently used it not even once a month. But I just moved and the land line is unreliable. My habit before the move and now is to not turn it on unless I am in the privacy of my home and free to talk without disturbing others. If I didn't do this, I would forget to tunr it off when in a movie, at a restaurant, at church, at work... all places where its ringing and any conversation would be rude to those around me. I treat it as if it was my home telephone and use it in the same manner. There is no need to be immediately available for any and all calls.
