Bloomberg's Blunder

Submitted by W. H. Injeian, Nov 29, 2006 11:13

Mayor Bloomberg may have built a "thousand bridges" during his tenure, but it takes only one really bad mistake to wipe away all the good he has done. Fair? No. Reality? Yes. For it reveals one's Achilles heel. A profoundly deadly weak spot. Of all the people in the world to give audience to, he gives it to one of the most racially incendiary jerks on the planet, "Reverend" Al Sharpton. Why Mr. Bloomberg gave this disgrace to the cloth any measure of credibility is perplexing enough, but to become this bigot's "amen corner" is really quite unforgivable. It goes well beyond a lack of leadership. It reveals that the Mayor's prior good works may only have been based on extraordinary luck.....that the real man is exposed when certain pressure is applied.

Given the progress that the NYPD has made over the last fourteen years, "the turn-around", with our amazingly effective decrease in serious crime, to offer up a pound of flesh to the hyena bigots....just leaves too many of the law-abiding shaking their heads. Mr. Bloomberg will never remove this stain from his otherwise good record. A Pity.
