in response to reader comment: Thank G-d for Douglas Murray

Submitted by Paul, Jul 8, 2007 18:13

Like Anne, I found this page though googling about Douglas Murray after watching the BBC's Question Time program.

Douglas is a similar age to myself, and its so refreshing to know there is somebody under 70 who can think clearly, speak concisely, rummage for strong rebuttals from the vast memory banks of what seems like a well read and well thought out brain! I thought such people were being made extinct! What a relief it is to see such a strong minded commentator who slices and dices the positions of the usual socialist fools and so called 'liberal elite' which is strangling this country (litteraly) to death.

I may disagree with his support of 'Zionism' to some degree, but Ive only been reading about the chap for a few hours now. Israel has its problems, and certain aspects of 'Zionism' do have serious implications.

The "Conservative" party is almost dead, thanks to the "Gramsci effect" in modern British politics, which has debased the conservatives and forced them to shift irreversably leftwards.

Rather than revive the Conservatives, I think it needs to die a nasty death, all the dead wood swept away and some of the overly capitalistic and self interest elements removed and for a clear replacement to take place, where the likes of Peter Hitchens and Douglas Murray are more widely the norm rather than the exception, and where (personally speaking) a strong sense of European identity can be fostered and protected from those who are already in our mists and also those fellow Europeans who strangely seem to relish in our destruction as a native people, as a nation, as a civilisation.

Im not sure how much I do or dont agree to all Douglas has to say, but Im interested in finding out. His appearance on QT impressed me, despite the behaviour of the crowd and co-panelists treating him like a lepper at points. One only has to listen to 'celebrity' Davina McCall and some of the young students to feel this country and western civilisational aspects are doomed.

It was indeed a breath of fresh air from the usual "missing the point on purpose" side issue politics. Douglas just rolls the sleeves up and gets in there and heads direct to target, and rather than blither about side issues and worrying about pandering to some elements of the community, he just prefers to get to the nub of the matter and that seemingly upsets his opposition because they then have to actually THINK and not just repeat tired old excuses and mantra's that so easily flow off the tongues of the inept.

I wouldnt declare myself as a Neo-Con, not because of any negative implications, but because I have some differing (and perhaps more extreme?) opinions of just what also needs to be saved from the abyss. We need stronger willed people to battle roughly on this side of politics if we intend to save anything at all, and its about time people started to really talk about things in Britain, and not be side shifted and appeased, lied to, and told what we want to believe is true, in some pretence that it will all work out fine. It wont work out fine, it will work out more than disasterous. Hopefully we can steer the ship (or should that be sheep) to avoid the worst of it thats coming, thanks to such voices of clarity.
