So tell me, why is it that Patreuse is not able to deliver a report in 6 months time? If things are going so well, why not come to congress and put up, or shut up? That anyone at this stage believes further combat military action in Iraq will solve anything shows a complete lack of understanding of the dynamics involved.
We are now tasking our service men with arming and training insurgents, who are still fighting them, but willing to show up for the free weapons training, ammo and intel, only to turn around and use them against us. Just look at Britain, where doctors turned around and attempted to blow up people on a crowded street. And some think that arming and training insurgents will somehow end in less violence and a peacefull end to the conflict? That just flys in the face of all logic and reason.
So many mistakes have been made along the way to this point, by this administration, that nothing they do will salvage the situation. There are too few troops, in less than ready condition, to finish this job militarily. That so many think Iraq had anything to with the events of 9/11, any connection to Osama Bin Laden, has been proven beyond a doubt to be a lie conjured by the VP's office and touted as fact. That should be construed as an act of treason, sending our military into harms way based on lies.
That our troops continue to serve valiantly and with great honor, is a testement not to the right or wrong of this fight, but to the nature of the American mindset. Of the institutions in America, the military has a 70% approval rating, for jobs well done. They can stand proud for their efforts, as they will for countless years to come. That the administration, the judicial branch and the legislative branch do not have a COMBINED approval rating of 50% speaks wonders.
Nation building is not the task of our military, nation protection is. When a clear and present danger appears, we can and will, take out that threat. There is not one shred of evidence that anyone from Iraq has the means or capability to do more than those doctors in Britain, which is not much. Not one death form that incident, thankfully. No military in the wold is capable of protecting a population that is at war with itself. It is time to stand back and let the people of Iraq stand or fall on their own two feet. If another Saddam rises to the top, we can take him out in the same way we removed Saddam, quickly and effectivly.
That is what our military is for, taking down governments, not building them up.
