Recent examples in the UK should prove a cautionary tale ... Despite a city ringed with cameras, neither the 7-07 bombings nor the recent abortive car bombings were prevented by cameras. IMHO, cameras do nothing to protect us but will potentially do quite a bit to infringe on civil liberties.
