The British do apply for medical school (my son is one of them, now a Doctor, Psychiatrist actually) but like so many things in Britain, like welfare, pension, etc. it seems that you stand a better chance in the selection procedures, application queues, or whatever procedure, if you are an alien, an illegal immigrant, or otherwise oddball applicant, such as a virulent strain of fire-breathing imam. There are many young fully qualified medics in Britain who are having difficulty getting positions after all their work and study. We need many more of them, especially the Psychiatrists like my son. If they cannot sort out our inept and terminally stupid politicians then we, the public, will need their counselling ourselves. I despair. Keep up your well targeted broadsides. Britain is target rich.
