To Terrify Tehran, Unleash the Iranian Opposition

Submitted by Shahab Sariri, Jul 10, 2007 10:49

When the discussing the Iran problem, only two options are discussed in the main stream media. War and appeasement. Neither option offers a viable solution. The third option, democratic change by the Iranian people and their Resistance is the key to establishing a stable middle east. The National Council of Resistance of Iran, an umbrella organization in which the MEK is the largest member of, led by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi are the antithesis to the spread of Islamic fundamentalism.

The MEK has proved its deep roots within Iranian society through its ability to expose the regime's terrorist networks, nuclear program, and its ability to fan the flames of discontent within Iran especially over the course of this year. 5.2 million Iraqi's in 2006, declared their support for the MEK as the only barrier between them and the fundamentalists dispatched by Tehran, working to imprison them under a midevil theocracy, like that seen in Iran.

The terror label against the MEK serves as a life line to the mullahs in Iran. The EU has chosen to flagrantly ignore the rule of law, by refusing to remove the MEK from its terror list, as it was bound to do after a December 2006 ruling by the European Court of Justice annuling the EU's decision to blacklist it. History is our greatest teacher. Appeasement of expansionist regimes serves only as a precursor to widescale conflicts. The listing of the MEK as a terrorist group by the EU and the State Department is nothing more than a dangerous act of appeasing a rouge regime hell bent on spreading its fundamentalist revolution through out the middle east.
