On thing you mentioned was that the rules were freed up recently for penetrating guards but did not mention that so far this year the pendulum appears to have swung. Every game has 2-5 carry or other traveling calls on guards and others with a "handle" along with more offensive fouls for using the off-arm and such. Usually those calls came maybe every game or two. Marbury,who would carry the ball like a running back and charge into the lane, has found rough sledding with his penetrating this year. It could be the whistles have inhibited him or his body and/or head.
