Too bad for Al that a Live Earth concert wasn't scheduled for Buenos Aires. Had it been, it would have been snowed out; a 2" snowfall was the first in 89 years.

Other parts of South America were even colder. Bariloche, in Argentina's beautiful Lake District, was -2 Farenheit this morning; normal overnight lows are about 32 Farenheit at this time of year.

This is not a one-time cold snap. It's been unseasonably cold in South America this entire winter, resulting in severe shortages of natural gas in Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay. In fact, the entire southern hemisphere has been cooling since 2003.

"Hemispherical Warming," however, doesn't sound quite as sexy as "global warming."
