I disagree with the first poster. Israel has a moral obligation to aid these stricken families from the Sudan. And besides, it's great PR, unless of course you are the head of that pariah nation. It's like this: one picture is worth a thousand words. Taking in a few hundred desparate people, who have already been threatened by the Sudanese government, may tick off some in the Arab world, but why should Israel care? The Sudan is already one of Israel's many enemies.
Israel did gain some brownie points when it sent rescue teams to aid sticken people elseswhere do to natures calamities., besides having the capability.
Israel, as a nation with survivors of the worst tragedy ever perpetrated on man, and of other persecuted people, and a haven for hundreds of thousands of people seeking freedom and the right to practice their religious beliefs, should have treated these refugees especially more kindly and thoughtfully.
Perhaps Israel has, to some degree, lost it's way..with the confusion over political corruption and immoral behavior by some leaders, it's lack of foresight, it's indecisive wars, it's inability to present a united front against it's many enemies, and it's dependency on re-cycled leadership?
