Journalism should require an English literary degree, not just knowledge of the APA technique style. As we continue to degrade the English language into a more culturally pliable form, journalist must remember that as a society Americans no longer read. It is essential to know source materials. To gain and retain credibility with those who do read, please take the time to look up things you are not sure of because you are responsible for educating the quick fix group who do not know, nor seem to care.

The quote is credited to Leonardo Da Vinci, and should be the tenet for all who try to educate, or inform. Just a slight criticism which tainted the rest of the article for me.
