City's Bike Lanes Are Going Green - Literally

Submitted by John Kraft, Jul 13, 2007 12:24

So folks in Brooklyn Heights are upset about the green paint used to mark the bike lane? Give me a break! I visited the borough in June of 2001, after a 44 year absence, and found the sidewalks completely dotted with the remains of chewing gum wads that were there from the time when I left Brooklyn! The same condition prevailed on the subway platforms. I suspect if I visit again in a few years there will be some community organization lobbying to declare those wads "urban fossils". But, they will still be there.
