So much for living in a non-Christiancentric society. What hubris, what ego! People who usually deny the existance of God and call themselves athiests are usually rather bright folks with no modesty whatsoever. Johnathn Miller I always thought creative and rather smart. A doctor who was a whit and who lived in the cultural world frankly based on the works of earlier creative folk who knew there was a God and who certainly respected him. Existentialism, that nasty festering egg that sprouted all those black post World War II turtleneck chainsmokers with Ginsberg and Camus tucked under their arms as they shuttled between Philosophy 101 and Doom 102 was the result of people being really ticked off after the carnage of the War and who felt that God had abandoned them, as if He ran a Kool Aide stand and showed up whenever it was hot out. Phooie. These athiests are the source of their own dispair. How could anyone listen to Mozart and doubt the existance of God. Look at the works lined up chock-a-block in the Louvre and doubt Divine inspiration? These folk are too absorbed with themselves. Sadly many of these athiestic practitioners seem to be non-religious Jews who have abandoned their spiritual roots (i.e., Dr. Miller) and just go for a take-away order of guilt and misery. We forget God when we become too obsessed with ourselves. We have to look outside our selves to grasp the nature of the Divine, in whatever manifestation you embrace it.
Of the group of 'creative stars' Miller interviewed in '03 the American playwright, Arthur Miller is now dead and has benefited from the beatific vision and for that one split second prior to discovering his eternal fate knows the truth of the matter. Perhaps Mr. Miller should do a part 4 in which he channels Mr. Miller, if he can find him, and see what he has to say. Who was the cagey 17th Century Frenchman who said, 'Oh God, if there is a God, save my soul, if I have a soul.' He may be in Pergatory, Hubris's half-way house.
