Yes, the situation is critical. And I agree that Muslim immigration and aggression (actually the third wave of jihad since the 7th-8th Century) is without exception the most important question of our time. But Claire Berlinski has forgotten something crucial: the non-Muslim majority. Like many other writers and journalists in the US she seems to confuse the opinions of the left-leaning elite with the opinions of the ordinary man. Islam is and will not be popular in Europe. On the contrary anti-Islamic feelings are growing everywhere. Since the attack against London 2005 - and particularly the cartoon affair the year after - multiculturalism is a dead cause. Everyone knows it. Even the establishment of Sweden, Europe's perhaps most Islam- and Palestinian-friendly nation, has quietly abandoned the mad dream of "coexistence". I'm quite convinced that harsh measures will be seen in the next decade or so - including massive repatriation, mosque-banning and outright "forced conversion" (i.e. to a modern way of life). Islam isn't compatible with our society. Sharia will never coexist with democracy or civil law. Sooner or later the non-Muslim majorities of Europe will both fight and vote for their own survival, their homes and their property. Although not pleased or enthusiastic I have to remind you of Europe's violent past. Worse case scenario will be a kind of new thirty years war or rather a new grand scale Bosnia. In a desperate move to save their careers and reputation types like Gordon Brown will continue play with their fiddlesticks. But reality is already here.
