Islam is not just a religion, but a totalitarian way of life espousing imposition of sharia law, conversion, and subjugation of non muslims in the secualar society within which muslims have emigrated. It is much like communism during the cold war in the usa whose purpose was to overthrow the government and replace it with a new totalitarian model. The same way communism was vilified (McCarthy notwithstanding) so too should Islam be vilified- for its support of martyrdom, of hatred of Jews and other non muslims, for its subjugatioon and barbarity of women in sharia. If the imams in the ummah can not foresake these ideas, then their privilege to preach should be revoked by the governemment and they should be deported. A new Islam based on modern civilized ideas of tolerance and peaceful co habitation must rise up from the ashes of the present one- otherwise we are on the path of a monumental clash of civilizations.
