Beyond the Illusions

An excellent and perceptive piece! A pity that Mr. Bush, perhaps with the best of intentions, has willingly acquiesced to the refusal of the PA to fulfill their part of the 'peace process'. Unable to accomplish this, the administration has still pressured Israel to support Abbas - a one-way street. Abbas has falsely been called a 'moderate' in order to whitewash him and present him as a leader for the 'peaceful state of Palestine!. Secretary of State Rice has coerced Israel into making one dangerous concession after another; this has endangered the whole area with the spread of al Qaeda and greater risk to Coalition troops in Iraq.

Those who advocate leaving Iraq by a chosen date apparently believe that the war will somehow end there. Further illusion. Iran, her hands already in Syria, Lebanon, and elsewhere will attempt to sweep over the entire region including Jordan, Egypt, and Israel, and create an enlarged Islamic state. Europe is already under tremendous stress from the seething Muslim community there (who does not remember the French riots and the Danish cartoon reaction! ) .

Multiple deadly terrorist attacks will be carried out on Western countries to subjugate their populations. Those who maim and ruthlessly murder their own with such brutality will not hesitate to use such tactics on those whom they have been educated to hate. Western civilization will be endangered as never before. Only by anticipating the worst end -scenario can the free world save itself.

The Bush illusions are shared by others who have buried their heads in the sand - thinking the bad dreams will go away if ignored. The handwriting is still on the wall and those who read it must prevail! Those who espouse terrorism must not be rewarded; the fight must be brought to the enemy and they must be beaten. We must acknowledge that the enemies of freedom have planned this for some time. Realism dictates that it will be at least as long a fight. May our leaders have the wisdom to face the truth . It is up to those who elect them to choose wisely. And may we all pray that we will be victorious - lest we not be permitted to pray .
