I live, and pay to live, in an overpriced studio in Manhattan because I WORK here and work long hours. Relying on the Ferry ain't gonna cut it. Or a long subway ride. And rents within a short subway ride are only marginally less expensive and I'm not getting that much more. Seriously, if I didn't have a job, I would consider Staten Island.
