Even the Good Teams Are Guilty of Cap Foibles

Which one of those players would have kept Amare and Boris on the bench? That's what cost Phoenix a title. Marcus Banks doesn't make 5 million a year either. Obviously the NY media have no idea how the NBA works...this past season the Spurs paid $200,000 in luxury tax but received more than that in their share of the luxury tax pot that is split between the clubs, Phoenix paid no luxury tax last season. The trades the Suns made paid them 3 million dollars per draft pick plus whatever the salaries would have been, using your math that adds up to 20 million in savings (5 million in salary, 15 million in procedes) not to mention the Suns cut of the Knicks 45 million and if they can get under the threshold this season before the trade deadline they will owe zero for this season as well. That is called good fiscal planning and has allowed the Suns to win an average of 59 games over the last three seasons. Nice try at throwing two model franchises under the bus, unfortunately for Knicks fans their team is under there all by their lonesomes.
