What an absurd thing to say that closing hospitals are long overdue. These hospitals have been providing exceptional medical services for their respecitve communites for many generations and this would be a tragic loss of the closings occur. Each of these hospitals provide a vital function to their respecitve communities.
In addtion most of these identified hospitals provide nursing home services. With the rise of dymentia and alzeihmer in aging citizens this need will increase not decrease. My mother is such an example and after 10 years of caring for by myself I had made the decison to place her in a nursing home. It took me another 3 years before I was able to secure admission to a nursing home that was close by so that I could visit her often.
Once hospitals are shuttered the both the communities will suffer in many factors.
Regarding bureaucracy you should look at the New York Public school system which is overlooked.
Half of their excessive budget should be transferred to the New York City hospitals where it would serve
everyone much better. Theres plenty of money to be found when special interests groups are lobbying for something. Is hospitals providing medical services that low on the interest barometer??
