Qaeda in Iraq in Credibility Crisis Over Imaginary Political Leader

Submitted by Scott Baker, Jul 19, 2007 10:09

If Al-Qaeda in Iraq isn't even headed by an Iraqi, if even the majority of Sunnis oppose Al-Qaeda and are forming private militias to defeat them, if the majority shiites are idelogically opposed to Al-Qaeda, if even Al-Qaeda has stated publicaly that they fear Iran more than the United States should we leave, then what the heck are we still doing in Iraq?! Let them solve this problem on their own, regardless of whether the current ineffectual government survives. At this point, few Americans would care if Al-Maliki or Al-Sadr heads the government of Iraq, so long as they are not planning to launch strikes against the U.S. - and so far there's been no statement from Al-Sadr that he is concerned with anything more than America getting out of Iraq. 1-2-3-4, what the Hell are we fighting for?
