Mayor Bloomberg Undone By His Uncommon Touch

I agree with Alicia Colon that there are elected politicians that do adhere to the wants of their communities but it just does not happen in New York City. As far as traffic congestion is concerned I am a city resident and a manufacturer that has several commercially registered vehicles and we as an industry have been hit with commercial metered parking which started under Rudy's administration. It began in the garment district from 40th street to 44th street and it ran from 5th avenue to 7th avenue. Under Mayor Mike the program now extends from 23rd street to 60th street and it runs from 2nd avenue till 9th avenue. $2.00 for 1 hour $5.00 for 2 hours and $9.00 for 3 hours. What really gets me is that between police, fire, sanitation, municipal workers and handicapped permits issued to people that should not have one, this is what causes commercial vehicles to tie up traffic. All of the people that I just mentioned are parked where the trucks are supposed to be and since these other vehicles are parked there, the trucks are double parking. When did it ever become acceptable that going to and from work be considered official business. Then by all of the court houses the court officers are parked with their parking placards and they are all at meters and are not putting money into these meteres Monday thru Friday so there you go, illegaly parked cars that are not putting money in the meters on the streets of New York city. In addition why is it that the press get to have a free ride to? Why is it that the muni-metered parking is not applicable to this group of privledged people. All one needs to do is go on 6th avenue and all of these NYP plated cars are not covering any stories. They are in a nice offices way beyond the 3 hour time limit working at there day to day job and not getting ticketed.

In conclusion, take care of the obvious and then choose to be created. If you elect me Mayor of New York City I pledge to make these items develop.

Thank You,

George L. Greco

Rockaway Resident and commercial vehicle owner!!!
