Iraq Pullout Could Give Market an Anxiety Attack

Hopefully we will not base military and political policies on the desires of financial parasites, who have not dropped one ounce of blood in Iraq and who perceive themselves as benefitting economically from the funerals of our young military women and men. The Middle East is already in turmoil and Iraq is already in chaos. As the US's five years in Iraq demonstrate, that region will be in turmoil and chaos for the foreseeable future, whether or not the US is present. Until the US withdraws, the Iraqi government will understandably sit back and rely on US forces and diplomacy rather than fixing its own problems. In my view, the future saving of another half a trillion dollars should spur economic growth, much as such military savings did in the 1990s.
