There is great disappointment after reading "Daniel Golder" for it has none of the bite of "Suite francaise".
Her personal hatred of her mother especially is vividly described in "Daniel Golder". This is a woman who after the war rejected her own granddaughters!!
In "Suite francaise" the French wealthy caught up in war show their worst side
