Mr. Pipes is inrelligent and knowledgeable about the Middle East, but he does not see the changes coming along. Europe is not your Father's Europe. Neither is it the Eurabia described by Pat Buchanan.

Sooner or later Turkey will enter the EU. It is no problem for Europe to share a border with Iraq as long as there is an American presence. (Sharing a border with today's Syria is another kettle of fish.)

Indeed, having vast oil supplies on the border of Europe is a good thing. Such expansion can only be possible when American troops safeguard Iraq as they did Germany last Century.
