The city clearly needs more bike lanes, and I applaud the Mayor for taking a lead here. But putting lanes on some car-free streets, like 91st, is more about government expediency than common sense. This block, in my Senate district, is filled with kids playing ball, and senior citizens reading and sitting on benches. It's also on a fairly steep grade. A bicycle route here is not just a nuisance, but a legitimate danger. I strongly encourage DOT to select another route.
