Big Deadline Move Puts Yankee Future at Risk

Seems strange to omit Tabata, Jackson and Cervelli from your discussion. You also refer to Teixeira as a pitcher in the second paragraph. Personally, if Texas would take Kennedy and their choice of Clippard, Karstens, Kontos or Betances, I would do the deal, but I would never consider including Chamberlain. I also would not rule out Chamberlain having an impact as a Zumaya/K-Rod type reliever this year. I think, with Giambi coming back, the offense for this year looks to be ok (although I would like the Yankees to revisit the Abreu for Dye discussions) but I agree that someone like Teixieira is critical for next year.

Ironically, I think the Yankees patience with Chamberlain's development as a starter will depend partly on Hughes. If Hughes contributes quickly, then Chamberlain will be given more time to develop. If Hughes does not, then it will be hard to have them both go through growing pains next year.
