Both countries already have treaties with Israel, so what was gained?
When Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia recognize Israel, with no pre-conditions, then we have something of significance.
The issue of Jerusalem and the so-called return (not really a guarantee), should never be on the table for discussion, and should not piggyback any irrelevant compromise of the issue of the 700,000 Jews expelled from their homes since the Spanish Inquisition in Arab-Muslim lands.
This is simply a publicity stunt, for both OImert and LIvni, who are still befuddled about the entire conflict, and a silly attempt by Egypt and Jordan to push for peace (on their terms).
Syria is still preparing for war, and Iran is closer to boasting it has nuclear weapons. Hamas is in charge still in the Gaza Strip, and trying to make inroads in the West Bank.
Al Qaeda is encroaching in the M.E.
No, peace is not the reality any time soon., conferences, notwithstanding.
