Breaking the Wine-Glass Ceiling

"In an industry dominated by men, Ms. Malone-Seixas is a rarity: a female sommelier who is not only employed by a respected restaurant, but actually runs its wine program."

All too true. Another shining example is LA Perkel, who runs the wine and beverage program at Michael's Restaurant in midtown. She knows her stuff as well as anyone, but never makes her customers feel intimidated (something all too common, unfortunately, among male sommeliers).
