Bergman Was More Than a Filmmaker

Of the thousands of movies I have probably seen, maybe a dozen have stayed fresh in my mind. Ingmar Bergman's Persona and the harrowing Cries and Whispers remain, memorable masterpieces of such beauty and emotion, such incomparable performances by the devoted actresses.

Thank you to Benjamin Ivry for his genuine appreciation of Bergman's genius and of an artist's long, original, honest career.
