I agree that Oden is an extremely talented player, and have proven himself in College (so far). But like what is said in the article, Basketball is a team game and the reason why they hold practices and scrimmages is how a player reacts to one another and how they adapt to the system that will be in placed by the coaching staff.

So if Oden misses many practices and not able to demonstrate his ability to jell and operate within the system, Colangelo said it perfectly.

Personally, I feel that Kobe and Kidd have tremendously improved the USA Team by providing leadership, defensive spunk, hassle, maturity and perimeter offense, from the 1-2 positions compared to the last team.
