The Falling Sickness Story: Healthiest Justice?

I am familiar enough with what can happen to original text, from the time it's generated to the time that ink meets the printed page, to understand that what I read may not be quite what Dr. Gottlieb wrote. Nonetheless, I'm disturbed by the tenor of the article, especially after learning that the doctor is a practicing physician. I was able to digest the involvement of doctors in the recent Glasgow incidents by attributing their apparent fanaticism to their youth, despite their medical education. More surprising was the recent revelation that the just expired driver was a PhD engineer educated in India. Indians certainly have had lots of experience killing each other with bombs in the post Kipling sub-continent. Yet this PhD engineer couldn't manage to do it. We should be grateful that not every person who successfuly navigates a system and comes out with an M.D. or a PhD measures up? But the abbreviated bio at the end of the article leads me to conclude that Dr Gottlieb is no spring chicken and besides that, he's a fellow of the American Enterpirse Institue. Perhaps the tenor of the article is the result of editing. Then again, my reading may be deficient. I'll just have to suspend judgement. --Art Dieli, Sacramento
