Australia Mulls Lifting Ban On Cloning

Submitted by Roger Moorgate, PhD, Dec 1, 2006 12:13

Sir, as I understand it, legally, the Australian government is currently opposed to therapeutic cloning. This is a tragic loss for the Australian people as therapeutic human cloning to create stem cells genetically identical to a patient offers immense potential for curing or alleviating the symptoms of many degenerative diseases. I hope the Australian House follows the Senate's example and votes to allow this medical research.
