McCain Bids for an Issue on Property

Submitted by Bill Blum, Aug 7, 2007 17:59

Recently Senator McCain has lost my interest in his seeming support of the war in Iraq.

He has regained my interest and respect with his stand on Eminent Domain. The Kelo decision was a blow to the rights of ALL Americans to own property. Eminent Domain applies mostly to real property, but Kelo might just open the door to government take-over of businesses or even goods.

We have always been a country that stood for each citizen's right to be secure in their own homes. Kelo deprives us of that right. It is one thing to take-over private property for public good, such as a school or a public hospital. It is a crime that private property can be confiscated and used for private gain.
