Shifting Perceptions of the War

The last "great superpower," using blitzkrieg tactics, rolled into France and brought down France's government. That "superpower"/occupying force also created a "government of the willing". No matter how good, bad, or indifferent that "Vichy" government might have been it was destined to be brought down by a "coalition of the unwilling" which was led by what became known as The French Resistance. Surely America lost enough good men and women as a member of that resistance effort to realize that we are presently following some very bad example. Surely it is not to Iraq's benefit or to our own to "successfully" prop up a "Vichy" government with even more dead Iraqis and Americans. I believe the mirror of history will show the reasonably objective observer that our best course is to lose this war now as gracefully as possible. All the nations of the world just might breath a collective sigh of relief to learn that even a Superpower can be a good loser.
